Or you could try calling the number and taking a guess at the last digit. Worst case, you get 9 wrong numbers before you get the right one.

You're assuming it is the last digit that was missing. (probably correct) Could be any one of the 4.

Okay, so I have never owned a chainsaw. See this up on craigslist, should not be more than a 15-20 minute drive.

its a 372 xp for 300 bucks. Pictures are a bit small, but it is obvious it has been used, he says it runs fine.

What do I ask him to see if this is a good deal? If I lay hands on it, what do I check? I don't have anything to check compression, but I could get something. Ask him how old it is? Estimate of its hours?
