I bought an unlimited coil for my new 372xpw from Bailey's but it doesn't clear the flywheel magnets once installed. tbh, i was a little disappointed with it and the very poor fit. It's not even close to usable.

Here's a picture of the factory fit, plenty of clearance.

Yeah, thats not good. Is there not a little room for adjustment? I take a business card(about .008) and put between the coil and magnet and then tighten them down.

That's all the way back man. The stock one goes on fine with plenty of room for adjustment. I was wondering what kind of gap to leave. Right now it's probably a good 2 or 3 business cards gap and it starts up and runs fine. *shrugs*

I think the specs is about .008 thousandths, but I could be off a little. If its not rubbing and it runs good, it probably is good. I have the PN for the unlimited husqvarna coil that I put on mine. Ill dig up the number in a min.

Yeah, There a little higher than the aftermarket. I always liked to stay oem if I could. I got mine from jacks small engines. Think there in NY maybe. Baileys will be able to get them too. Just punch in that PN in the search box on baileys page.

why not just slot the holes for clearence? i understand your dissapointment, but this is very easy to fix yourself.

that is an idea and one that crossed my mind but i don't really feel like fooling with a $50 +shipping brand new part that's supposed to be a direct bolt on replacement. Am i being spoiled about it? yeah, i suppose.
And in all honestly, it's not really a "got to have" right now. Since the saw is brand new i'll be runnin' her a little fat for a while anyway. It was just one of those things i thought i'd go ahead and replace ahead of time.

oh and now that i think of it, slotting the holes won't work because the coil was sitting all the way back against the case. So the only way to make it work is to grind down the pick up feet and mainly the larger one on the bottom.

Thats odd. I installed one from Baileys on my 372xpw and it fit good and works fine.

I've used 3 of them and not had any problems with any of them fitting. One was on a 372xpw, 390, and 346. I like to get oem if I can find a good used one on ebay. If not I'll use the baileys one.

I tried one and the kill switch wouldn't work. It was the coil not the switch. I now use nothing but OEM coils. It's just like a car. I'll use lots of aftermarket parts, but I try to stick with OEM on electronics.

Found this in the SM.
Insert the feeler gauge (H) (0.3 mm) into the air gap between the ignition module and flywheel magnet. The clearance applies only to the two lower pegs on the ignition module.

What can i say, i'm glad it worked out for you. But in my case the pics are the proof in the pudding.
