Randy's running Mark H's 1-76 in that photo (to be sure it's a good runner.....LOL). I doubt Mark'd appreciate Randy giving it to you.......regardless of whether or not the plastic thang became Randy's...

I ran Mark's saw, and that thing is really nice. Primer works perfect, a few squirts and the saw starts right up. Good throttle response, and plenty of grunt in the cut.

Yah, but I'm not the only one that noticed the lack of serious PPE. Especially in light of a couple of threads that showed up today. I'm not the only one that would lament the loss of such a valued AS community member due to the preference to make a 'fashion statement.' :bang:

Yep... my question is who uses a shoulder pad, or even carries their saw on their shoulder...

I don't... and no, my arms don't get that tired. I've walked down the road to cut a little firewood with the 610. Carried a can of gas in one hand, and the saw in the other. Fired her up down there and made some chips.

Disclaimer: I am, in no way, calling any that do carry their saw on their shoulders any of these names... Nancy, sissy, wussy, weakling, brokeback, Buttercup, Princess, or any other funny oke: names.

What did I just buy?

I saw an ebay item for 2 "McCulloch Kart intakes and carbs" with a buy it now that seemed like a decent deal, so I pulled the trigger.

I am not sure what I bought are really "kart carbs" due to the intake shape, but I figured that even if they are a pair of normal tillotson carbs are worth the BIN to me.

I can't figure out how to copy the image from the ad, so here is the Ebay auction# 170642361445. The intake does not seem like a 91 or 101 part, but the air cleaners do not look like a saw part either. Any guesses as to what will show up here? Does someone know the original application? Maybe kart, welder, 2 man saw, or ?. I have a guess, MAC 15 saw or similar?

If someone knows how to post the picture from the auction to this thread, I would appreciate the help.

The rockcrusher is a stand up guy, has lots of McCulloch parts on the bay, most very reasonable. Done bidness with him many a time. OK, 5 or 6x's, but you get a feel, you know?

I hear what your sayin, Yes PPE is a great thing today,

Huh, what did you say?

As most of you know I just got back from my mother's funeral which brings the family together. My three older brothers don't have any visible chainsaw scars (I do) but none of them can hear squat (almost all machine or firearm induced hearing losses). When Lee says no PPE, he means it. In my neck of the woods there were no hardhats, no safety glasses, no chaps and no ear protection. At the sawmill you met many a one legged or one armed or one eyed worker and heard stories of those who were no more. Nobody said much about hearing loss as you had to yell anyway. Even knowing this old habits are still hard to break. Ron

I did use a tinhat, mostly, gloves always, boots always, chaps once in a great while, earplugs most of the time, chainbrake very rarely as they were quickly removed from the saws.

Yep, had some injuries, nothing with a moving chain though or vertical kickback. I have been stabbed, burnt, shocked, sliced and torpedoed by saws. Trees lined up to have a shot at me, too much to go into just now.
The chaps were knee length, layers of canvas and fiberglass with leather reinforcements, did a good job at soaking up bar oil, never hit them with a saw. The chainbrakes of the day were pretty crude and heavy, I used them on jobs where they were required to be on the saw, I tried to ignore them, was irritated with that stupid handle.

Having trouble with that ebay listing on my phone, but that looks like a Mac 15 intake/carb/filter setup to me. For some reason, Mac 15 stuff is often listed with "kart" as a keyword. The carb(s) will be a Tillotson HC. Same as an HL, except gravity fed. No pump section. Saws with high mounted tanks such as the Mac 15, Homelite 500/Buz, and Mono/Wards saws such as my WD 60 had 'em.
