Given the dealers and price point of these saws in YOUR area, (I can have all three from the same place) First does any one have first hand experience with all three? Which is the best "bang per buck" in your opinion? Which is the best pro saw concept in your opinion? Is there a better option for that price point?

Not as interested in theory vs. those who have lived with these machines and experienced the others as well. My first instinct is to say the 365 is the first choice either in the bang per buck or pro saw option.....what do you all think and more importantly what experiences can you bring to the table to back up the opinion?

I don't know the Stihl offering or pricing, but both those Husky's are in the $600 dollar range plus or minus a little...

the only thing i can add is i have used almost every brand of saw down through the years at some stage or another and nothing has ever measured up to my husqvarna 365special,i own it maybe 7months now,i do all the maintainence myself including sharpening the chain,i must now have over 100tonnes of firewood cut with it and replaced nothing,it needed nothing ever, only regular service such as greesing bar and clutch bearing, bar tip and fliter cleaning,i just use compressed air to clean it once a week.

i love the saw and i cut massive trees,i have yet to meet a tree that got the better of this saw!

don't think i'm saying it's the best or anything because in recent years it's the most modern saw i have had,i have not tried any modern saws in recent times of same displacment.so i guess that makes my opinion invalid for the question you asked.

all i can further add is my husky 365 has itself paid for over and over and over......

Is the 365 the X-torq version, I figure it is. New saws against new saws. I was going to vote for the 365, as they have been around so long and built on the same platform as the 372, bang for buck there are part saws all over the place. If a person were to look hard could they find the previous version 365?
Havn't run them all but the 555 looks to be a bulls eye and husqvarna will have huge success with it.

You're going to buy a Husky anyway

The MS362 with 25" bar set me back 7 bills, worth every penny. Feels right in my hands, excellent AV, good filtration, strato engine increases your fuel mileage. I can cut nearly half-again as much wood as my old MS361 and the 362 has a smaller tank. Can't say anything about your other options as I haven't ran them, sorry.

If it's a 365xt with the 70cc motor for the same price, there's really not a problem in choosing. If it's the 65cc motor then the 555 starts to look good if you do not intend to port the 365. The 365 has the same chassis and transfer design the old 372 had - so responds very well to porting and is very easy to port. I used a ported 365 to stump a few 30-36" trees with ease.

18" or 20" I would probably pick the 555. If you want to use a 24" a lot I would get the 365. No experience with a 362 but the 361 was over rated on here.

I recently bought a 365xtorq and I believe it is a good bargain pricewise and powerwise. It definitely has more power than my 2165. I have run 20, 24, and 28" bars on it. From what I have read, it can be made into a 372 by removing a restrictor plate. It will weigh the same as your 2172. I have no experience with the other models.

I had a 365OE and I currently have a MS362. I don't have any experience with a 3x5 other than fondling one everytime I walk in my dealer!! I would probably give up the little bit of torque gained with the 365 for the nearly two pound weight loss of the 555. Now if the 365 is the XT, and knowing how simple it is to convert it into a 372XT, I would probably go that way.

All three of those are very good choices. Go handle all of them and see which dealer treats you the best. Good luck!

Bigger stuff 365. Torque, longer bar capability, super simple power mods.
Smaller stuff 555. Smoothness, fuel efficiency, compact, still good power.

I hav'nt ran the old 365 special but I would think the 555 would run right with it. Now the new XTorq probably has more torq if you are cutting 24 inch plus wood. Just my OP.

I have to agree with TK. The 365X-torq I just bought is a powerhouse for the price. Probably the best value in Husqvarna's big saw line. Fuel efficiency is noticably better than the old edition 372xp I had and the 365xt cuts right with it (372 was a little older though). It is not a feather weight but very managable. I just cut firewood and odd tree jobs. I use the 365 for trunk work (big firewood rounds) and something lighter for all else. This is the only one of the 3 I have run but in terms of big performance in a great value you can't go wrong here. If weight is a serious issue..............consider the 555 and if you must..................the other saw :msp_tongue:

What other saw? I only saw two choices, 365 or 555.....?? :hmm3grin2orange:

I hefted the 365 x-torq and 555..felt like about 1/2 lb difference. I have the 365 Special (really nice old saw, only have 10-15 hours on it though), the 70.5 cc 365 x-torq aand 555 have me intrigued. They both can be had for around the same money...The Stilh also is interesting because I don't have a good Stihl and the MS362 should be a good one...don't know where they are price wize relative to the Husqvarma's, figured they would be a $500 to $600 dollars but don't know though. Beginning to think that 365 x-torq might be the sleeper of the decade...might grab one before Husqvarna and the dealers figure out we all know the secret...:)
