Transaction with AS member gone bad

I purchased 2 saws from an AS member. Sent my USPS money order to him and 2 weeks have gone by and no saws. Hasn't said a thing other than 1 email from him saying "they are packed up now and ready to go, I will ship ASAP! sorry for the delay but I will send you a bonus package after I ship them for your patience." That was last Saturday. WTF...

Did I really just get played for $150? Definitely the last time I ever "buy" a saw on AS.
 
Well, maybe he didn't ship until Monday and depending on where you are in relation to him and his shipping method its still "in the mail". If he did ship your items and he has not gone awol you should be able to get a tracking number from him. Try to stay positive. The other thing, not unheard of, it's possible he had some sort of emergency or extraneous event in his life.

How were they shipped and from where? Seems like shipping from everywhere takes forever anymore. Since you used a USPS money order, if he doesn't come through I believe it's considered mail fraud.
 
Don't panic yet. Wait another week and THEN panic.

Not to make light of your concern but you will likely get your stuff. Many of the AS members have other stuff going on besides the saw aspect and sometimes the other stuff has a higher priority. I'm sure you're anxious to have your goodies in hand and can understand the wondering.
 
Get ahold of him on the phone.

Cut the guy a huss untill you can talk with the guy.

Especially being a larger package, it can take time. after all the USPS doesn't specialize in large stuff like UPS and FED EX. Ive had things come from utah to alabam and take almost two weeks. same kind of thing. guy told me he shipped them, i lost faith, said some things i regretted after the package was sitting on my door step one day. did a lot of apologizing.....don't be like me! just have faith, wait a little longer. then start looking for answers. Always trust someone till they give you a reason not to, just give him the benefit of the doubt.
 
You aren't the only one I was screwed out of a 100$ by a member who is now banned for a saw I purchased in September, this place is like everywhere else there are good and bad.
 
I'm in calif. and I've had items from east coast get here in five days and I've had things from northern calif take as much as 15 days. Parcel Post varies a lot. Give him the benefit of the doubt, after another week start to worry.
 
These kinds of threads are always a bad idea, and are never productive. Trust me, I've learned the hard way, lol. You're going to find two camps of people. Some will jump on your back, others will pile on the sellers back. Logic and reason doesn't even have to exist. It simply happens. Guys just like a fight. Chances are you'll get your stuff. And, don't judge us all by one guys actions.

If I knew they were shipped no big deal. Or if he'd just reply. Keep me informed. But 2 weeks since he received the money and still no updates is a little crappy.

I have to agree with that. There's very few excuses for no communication in this day and age.
 
i would not swear off buying from members on here. just try making sure of who your buying from and check their refernces . i have sold probably 50 saws to members on here and dont want you to lump all of us into that not buying from as members thing. some of us do as we say we will . patience can be a virtue when it comes to dealing with others. if you had bought one from me in the last couple of weeks it may have been put on the back burner, to the death in my family, the transmission i just replaced in my truck or any number of more pressing things. not trying to be a jerk here ,just stating my point of veiw. take it as you will

If they lock the thread, fine. At least I got a chance (once again) to get some advice from y'all.

To bring things back to positive I did just get a carb from a member -- shipped extraordinarily fast (less than 2 days), and was super nice. Couldn't have been much better.
