Wiggs,
Haven't heard back from you, just wanted to make sure you got the other chain I sent.
Sure did man. I still got ur other chain though.

Is the steel sleeve in that case of yours moving??....I've seen lots like that with a crack in the powder coat where the aluminum and the sleeve meet....It doesn't "always" mean it's loose.

It's definetly cracked....

I don't think it's moving though :dunno:

I need:

50mm Husky 372 piston
372 intake boot and clamp

I have:
Homelite 8800 recoil, crankcase, AV buffers, AV pins and maybe a carb. All in VG condition
AH-47 parts
Homelite XL-800 parts

EDIT:
I got the last post on page 1000........ So....... HA!!

I think I have a 372 intake boot and clamp. I doubt I have a piston but you can get a Meteor piston from Sal
at Northwood pretty cheap.

When Stihl casts the aluminum around that steel sleeve on the PTO side, there's a tiny gap at the surface...When the powder coat goes on there tends to be like an air bubble behind the powder coat. Because it's not really bonded in that spot it cracks the coating.

Having said that, I've seen one that actually was loose, but every second one has a crack in the coating, but the sleeve is rock solid.

Someone else chime in if they know more than me.

You're pretty much on the money, but in this case, Wigglesworth is extremely knowledgeable and knows when a case half is junk.
If he says it's garbage, it's garbage.

First chance I get, I'll check it out real good. There not the prettiest, but very usable, if the ring ain't loose. After I saw the crack, I didn't pay much more attention to em. It would still be nice to find a super nice set, to go with my near new old school 064 tank...

I could also use a super nice top cover for one :)

I figure after the crowbar and 2lb sledge gettin that stinking bearing out, I should be able to tell pretty easy if it's a bit loose by now.

Probably one of the most difficult saws I've split...

so does this mean your done with your 346 and 066?:laugh:
