Well got a beloved 562 in the shop today, customer report said hard/no start hot. Diagnostic software showed nothing abnormal, 21 hours on the saw, no error codes. Tank vent checked out ok, compression good, vacuum/pressure tested cyl and that also passed. Needle valve had a very slow leak to it. Upon running it I noticed an abnormal amount of bar oil coming from the front of the saw, pulled the muffler off again and saw it oozing out the crankcase split! So after a short amount of time on the phone with warranty auth. I've got a new carb, crankcase gasket and 357xp case screws on the way. Fortunately this is the first AT we've had problems with. I have not split the case yet, although I did notice a service bulletin for crank bearing problems, has anyone else seen this?

Seems there was one or two guys here that had hard starts when hot. One might have had bad gas, or choking it hot, can't remember. But haven't heard of any of the other issues.

Mine's been flawless.

I'm confused, are you having a problem with the actual AT unit or just the carburetor?

That is a shame. I Considered getting a 562 untill all these problem posts on the saw showed up. Getting the bugs worked out can be a pain. Please keep us informed as to how it goes.

Careful passing judgement too soon. Anytime there's a highly anticipated new model, any problems are going to be highlighted and likely exaggerated. All saws have issues from time to time.

I agree. The bad things will always be blown out of porportion, just as is the good things usually are. As is with anything new and awesome. If I wanted a new 562xp, I would not let a couple of bad post sway me from it. It's a really good saw.

And it's not like some of the best saws don't have issues as well, 044, 372, 066. My 361's had a bad carb out of the box, it was replaced free of charge. I also had a bad carb om my 346. Anything that has moving parts will fail eventually, and there will be duds as well, it happens all the time.

There is a service bulitin on the screws and case gasket for most of this new design including the 550. No news there. Also one on the bearings but I don't remember seeing an explanation. If there is one single piece of machinery that didn't have bugs at debut, notify me so we can send him/her the awesomest engineer that ever lived award :jester:

Stihl still breaks cranks and husky still spins bearing in ten year old models go figure

The service bulletin from Husqv. says that they were having bearing problems due to something in "the assembly process" and thats all the info they give on it. It looks like any of the 2012 units 555, 560 and 562 should have the bearing and case screw problem fixed. For those of you that have 2011 saws, just keep an eye on them. While getting some of the bugs worked out in these saws may be frustrating, I can say after using one for a few hours that they are absolutely worth it.

My 560xpg is a 2011 - I'd like to see that service bulletin anyway! :msp_wink:

I admit to being a head case but threads like this make me nervous as hell. Russ
