We're not having luck finding another 441CM locally at a reasonable price, and I was wondering if any Stihl dealers on here will ship new-in-box saws with warranty? Deal can be for the powerhead only since that's significantly easier to ship. We're in Virginia. PM me if you can help out.

Thanks,

You are asking a Stihl dealer to do something that can get them in deep doo.

I was thinking the same thing.

Can a dealer arrange to "swap" inventory w/ another dealer? Find a dealer w/ a 441, and work out a swap. Maybe the 441cm for the 441, or 440, or similarly valued saw.

Or have some one from here buy and ship you one? I can check my dealer but all I remember is 441C on the recoil.

In the same boat, my dealers have the 440 and pushing to sell me that, Looking to purchase RC-M model soon and no one has them on the shelf.

Your in Virginia and cant find one? Hmmmmaybe try the local beach...:hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

I would be surprised that all the regional distributors didn't have the 441C saws. I have had mine for almost a year, my dealer fit it from his distributor (Crader in Missouri) and he as not sold one since. The want to hold them back until the old 441s are gone. Most people are not saw "nuts" like us that keep up with the cutting edge of technology. Most use a wild thingy or grandpa's old Homey and carry their mix in a plastic gallon milk jug and use waste motor oil for the bar

That is all it will have on the recoil cover. 441 is the standard. If the recoil is a 441C it means it has options. It could be the 441CQ (Quick-stop) or the 441CM (M-Tronic)... Then the wrap version would end in a R. Funny thing Looking yesterday at the Stihl inventory I can reserve online for my zip code, it doesn't even allow the standard 441 any longer. Only 441CQ or CM. I guess because the 440 is back for one last horah before the EPA kills it for good.

To answer some of the questions, we're less than 100 miles from Stihl USA HQ, but the local distributor (whoever that is) who supplies the dealers in the area is still pushing out the regular old 441 models (which was discontinued in early 2012). And dealers still want $829 for the regular 441 with a 20" bar. We only found one CM model, and that wouldn't start so my buddy didn't buy it.

...we're less than 100 miles from Stihl USA HQ...

441 saws (at least the CM) come from Germany anyway, not the VA Beach factory. Mostly the HO & Farm use saws made in the VA Beach location, with a few smaller pro models, 261 I think...

Yeah, I am well aware the 441 is made in Germany -- I have one, and it had a big "Made in Germany" sticker below the muffler when it was new. Just responding to the previous post about Virginia Beach, which is the US HQ of Stihl and less than 100 miles away.

The best you can hope for is a dealer near you thats on this forum can chime in and help you. You may have to do some driving. Rolltide may have them in stock. PM him.

I have a 441C and I'm starting to really like it. They are great saws. Like driving a Cadillac. :D

I've ordered a few MS441CRMs. Never have they been on the shelf though. I have the dealer order what I need then drive down and pick it up. If your dealer says he can't order one.....find somewhere else to spend your money.

To give you an example of how strict Stihl are...

A Stihl dealer in the UK was caught out shipping saws online to the US and Australia. From what I heard he has had one warning and if he gets another one he will lose his dealership.
Stihl is all over eBay and paying close attention to anybody selling new Stihl gear. Of course there is nothing they can do if being bought via a 3rd party (as I have done in the past with a number of saws).
A few US dealers have also been warned.
This information has actually come from a Stihl dealer all the way over here in Australia so word gets around.
I even PM'd a fellow member here in the US who works at a Stihl dealership asking if they could ship a small part to Australia that the local dealer I was talking to said he couldn't get (or didn't want to). The US member PM's me back saying "hell no, the boss would sack me if he found out".
Luckily I've found a good Aussie dealer now who gets anything I want, anytime, and at good prices.
