Little Super 2 that a friend gave me. Said that his brother could not figure out what was wrong with it so he gave it to him. Probably just a carb problem. This one is a older magnesium one with the adjustable high speed so I think I will keep it and fix it. Never liked working on these because of all the gas/oil lines and how dirty they get inside, but looks like a good limber!

Tore that sucker down today and went through 2 cans of starter fluid cleaning the whole engine housing and case. Between that and a scraping it almost looks brand new. Gas line was good but that thing would have never oiled since 2 of the 3 oil lines (duck bill pressure and main) were stretched and spliced. Surprised the duck bill and its assembly were still there. Cleaned the carb and checked the piston. It look great. Should look great since it has the fixed high speed jet. I was wrong, it looked like another jet was there since there was so much dirt/grease :msp_biggrin:. Just need to run and get some line for it and it should fire right up. Every one of these little Homelite's that I have fixed have always ran and oiled for me after a good carb cleaning and new lines...and I doubt this ones gonna let me down.

Thanks overtrained. Haven't checked the oiler yet - what's the significance of whether the manual oiler works?

Cheeers

ps is this a screw I'm likely to find on any carb or is this mini specific? - bearing in mind I'm in Uk

Happy new year to all!!

Looks good man, at least you can eliminate the crank seals and the oiler seal too if its holding pressure/vacuum. Only thing that sucks about using new points is they have to be adjusted after you run them......aka tear it down again:D

Dennis

Yeah, I remember tearing down some of my repairs ...... to re-adjust them ....... that was a LONG while back !!!
Also, boss made us install electronic kits every time one came in for repairs (if it had points) and we had it out of its exo. just before I went into the military - close to the influx of electronic conversion kits on power equipment.

Thanks again for the heads up Dennis !!!
PS- I preferr new parts if possible, dont mind purchasing that way, actually preferr it, but if an old electronic kit has some dust in that corner of yours (over there.....) I wouldnt mind sending a few greens your way ............ standing by for your reccomendation ......

If the oil line is inserted correctly in the tank then at least you can oil the chain manually. That idle screw is mini specific for a walbro or zama carb but if you find a screw from another carb that will work by all means use it.

Sounds like the fuel lines arent routed correctly, got a pic of the air box?

Heres the correct way, the top hole out of the tank should have a shorter return line without the fuel filter on it. It runs to the SHORT side of the primer bulb. From there you run the LONG side of the primer bulb to the side of the carb with the H and L adjustments.

1 turn is not enough. try 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 each. I have only seen it once where they had to go beyond that. That will be enough to get her at least to run rough. Then dial her in. Also if you got any "clear" line, take it back now. get the yellowish green Tygon or Oregon line. The yellow line will last you 10X longer than the other crap. especially with today's gas...I can guarantee that. All I use is the good stuff and i have never had a problem with it yet. Also goes on easier.
