Well I started a thread a couple weeks back about a local truck that needed work, so I kept looking and decided on this. Its a 1995 F150 with all of the maintenance records since the year 2000. The truck is really clean with the exception of the rear wheel well outer edges on the bed which have some rot. I have not decided which route to go on with fixing those yet. It has a 4.9L inline 6 (300ci). It has 4 wheel drive and the weaker 5 speed manual (oh well, if something happens I'll deal with it). The truck had the clutch replaced, slave cylinder replaced, new A/C compressor, recent tires etc. So its nice to know it was kept up with. I plan on using it to go back and forth to work also. It rides real nice at 65-70. It either has an add a leaf, or F250 leaf springs in the back but it rides nice surprisingly. I plan on putting a new hands free Bluetooth radio in it, and a locker for the rear as it has an open diff in it.

Looks nice and clean!

You know if you could find a giant plastic log it would look cool on the roof rack...you know for those ford/chevy/dodge debates...just sayin....

Looks nice, congratulations!
Just keep in mind it's only a half ton.
What type of locker in the rear?

On my last half ton GMC I put Firestone air bags and 10 ply tires, it thought it was a big truck.
The 10 ply tires did make it ride rougher but it was a concession I was willing to deal with.
I would ditch the cap but that's just my opinion.

Thanks, I have a 2008 Silverado, but I feel that its too nice to beat up, even my Uncle and cousin are like its a truck its meant to get beat up! I'm sorry I enjoy getting complemented on my nice truck. I use it for towing trailers driving to florida or upstate NY and going out though. Lol

This is the silverado:

Sure is purdy for 18 yrs old. Adding a locker can get expensive. If 4x4 works why bother?

I know lol thanks for the heads up. I am going to keep the cap on there, only because I am an electrician when I am not at college and the ladder rack and locking cap would be extremely useful. And I was thinking of a Detroit locker.

sharp looking truck! those 4wd floor shifters are know for seizing $450 new try to keep lubed and working

they are a tough truck, we have one at work and its. een used hard for 18 years and still runs great. Third and fourth gear are gone though, the 4 wheel drive had to be worked on also but its a great truck

Great looking truck. I wouldn't worry about that rust around the wheel openings if it passes safety inspection (assuming you have them there). I'm with Dan...... I wouldn't bother adding a locker, it'll cost more than the truck is worth. Just run it.... its a nice truck.

Nice looking truck. I had a 95' with the limited slip rear end 4x4 . It was a great little truck but, that sucker like to eat slave cylinders. After three in a very short time window I had enough an got rid of it for a 3/4 ton Ford Diesel. If I was a little more mechanically inclined I might have kept it. :msp_unsure:

Congrats on the truck. That 300 6 will run forever. Im with some of the other guys about not puting in a locker. 4 wheel is all you will need unless you are rock crawling with it.

Nice woodhauler. As others have stated that 4.9 is a great engine. If I recall it had more torque from the factory than the 5.0 V8. As for the rear axle I would not bother with a locker unless your going way off the beaten path. The 4wd alone will be sufficient for most scrounging operations. If the rust really bothers you throw a set of fender flares on to hide the rust. Good luck with it.

Looks really nice for the age! Congratz on your new wood/chainsaw/Wheel Horse hauler :D

Thanks guys!

I really love the truck. I guess I'll get over the whole open rear thing until I find a different rear out of another F-150 with a limited slip then. The truck runs great knock on wood. Which I did plenty of earlier. She might get tested next weekend hauling some very big red oak out of the woods. Although it is rather swampy back behind my house on my neighbors property so I guess I'll have to keep playing with the 6x4 John Deere Gator my family has. Its a shame I don't know anyone around here with a chainsaw mill. The tree is nice and straight and the grain is really nice.

This is the tree, the Stihl 650 had a 28" bar... Wasn't long enough, I think I need to invest in a 36" bar now.

I love those OBS fords. I currently own 3. I vote locker but I wouldn't go with with a Detroit. Maybe a true trac. Give Randy's Ring and pinion a call they will hook you up

crying shame to make firewood out of that log

mill it. Tops, hollows, yard trees, crooks for firewood, logs for lumber, ties, beams.

Good looking truck, but not for me, I like having a truck that I wouldn't worry about getting scratched or dented.
