I have a couple of 460's here. Three of them need cranks. What say I send one to Brad and one to Randy. They can both put new OEM cranks in (to be sure there is no cheating) and then install the ported top end of their choice. Once they're done, they can just send them on back and we'll call it even on the "rental." :msp_biggrin:

If the saws that old and broke then it needed to be replaced anywayz

Most of my saws were "that old and broke" when I acquired them, I couldn't have afforded them otherwise. Now thanks to a little time and skill, and a whole bunch of AM parts, I've got some really good strong runners in my arsenal. :msp_thumbup:

That reminds me..........how many of you guys have met or done business with Thomas1?

Never met him, but sometimes you can tell whether or not you like someone by the way they convey themselves on the interwebs...and stuff.

He's alright in my book. :msp_thumbup:

And Randy if you guys don't want to tear down and build new saws to do an aftermarket vs oem comparison ,i don't have a problem sending you my hybrid for this ,it runs great ,i cant tell the difference in the other jug vs this one ,its just a good running saw .pretty much my go to one for most work

As long as Randy is ok with it, I'd love to have it here for a comparison. I'm thinking that I may borrow a customers 460 for the comparison. I think that would be a fairer comparison than specially built build-off saws. Can you get ahold of one of your customers saws, Randy?

Actually, if I get that hybrid, we have all we need.

I've done business with him and despite that fact he is still one of my most favorite people that I am pleased to know.

Even if he is FOS.

We've sent that hybrid back and forth across the country so many times that sooner or later the postal gods will kill it.

I've not built any other saws using AM 460 jugs though Brad. I'll just build a 460 with a Meteor top end.........Wiggs is sending me that jug you had.....I'll use it. :msp_thumbup:

The reason I asked what I did about Tom is that I've met him a couple of times.....done business with him so many times I've lost count.

He has a low tolerance for BS evidently. :D

He's a great guy, and a good friend to me though.

I'm gonna laugh, love, and live...........you guys fuss all ya want.

So, if you had an 084 that needed a muffler and there was an aftermarket one available, you wouldn't use it?

No... Absolutely not...
I would take it apart and throw it in a box...
Then sell it to a bear with a seal bone stuck in his arse...
So he could then send it to TN and have a monkey put it back together and convince the monkey somehow that he lost the damn thing, and is now responsible to find the OEM replacement...

See???
Easy as pie...
:amazed:

I like the way you talk.........

Let me see if I understand things. The title infers that the OP wants a strong running 044. Blah, Blah, Blah. Bingo, a 460 build off between two reputable builders with the only difference being AM vs OEM cylinder. Now boys I ain't ignorant, but to get from the title to now there sure is alot of huff and puff and a few shows of smoke and mirrors. The only question I have is why not do the 044/440 instead, the OP did have that in question. By the way, that 440 is starting to run very strong Randy.......
