thanks for the info. What should someone look for in the antique saw market that worth some effort?

Hard to tell. The odd and unusual are worth some cost and effort.

What is likely not would be the multitude of David Bradleys that are out there. O.T.O.H. a large collection of D-B can be amased for cheap.

In any event, breaking even would be my goal.
 
I found this in a shed. It survived hurricane sandy on long beach island nj. Its presumably still in that shed. Not siezed but I was drinking so it was no time for disassembly. The heaviest damned saw I ever held.
