I see a guy advertising his splitting services for $75 an hour...not faulting a guy for getting that kind of dough if he can. I open his ad and see he has a picture of DR Rapidfire splitter. He then claims his splitter is 6 times faster than ANY hydraulic splitter. Out of curiosity, I email and ask him how long it would take to split 18 cords of oak, all under 24" in diameter. He replies he would need a few days to process that much wood. My response to him was that I can easily spit 3 cords a day with my hydraulic (actually it's more with the 4 way) so he is misleading people saying it's 6 times faster. This obviously struck a nerve with the guy so he responds with, thanks for wasting my time, don't run your mouth when you don't know sh!t, go F yourself!

I felt compelled to post a response to his ad so people aren't mislead into thinking he can split 6 times faster and within a few hours got another email rambling on and spouting profanities about how fast they were and I didn't know what I was talking about. Um yeah, I do. I've seen one in person and watched the DR site video that shows it being 2.6 times faster than the slowest 34 ton hydro they could find. I got a good chuckle and I hope I prevent someone who really doesn't know any better from getting ripped off.

There's a guy around here that posts on CL about renting his DR out to folks for the day or the weekend. I can only guess that he's looking for help making the payments. Haven't seen his ad for a while, and don't remember what he was asking for rental fees anymore.

well if he's 6 times faster then he's making 6 times less money than the other guys.....his loss
If he were 6 times faster, he wouldn't need a few days to split 18 cords when I can easily split 3 in a day with my hydraulic...he claimed he was 6 times faster than ANY hydraulic on the market.

As a teenager in the late 70s' I charged $25 per hour to split wood for folks, Using a fairly slow hydro splitter. So $75 now is not out of line at all.

6 times faster is not quite right though, more like 2-3 times faster for a SS, not so sure about a DR...
The DR might brake down in the process, but who knows?

We can split over two cords an hour on a 27T DHT with three guys working it. If he can split 12 cords for $75 I will hire him permanently and go into the firewood business.

I agree that comment is big time bait and switch.....

So, the OP got butthurt because someone claimed to have a faster splitter, then the guy who does in fact have a faster splitter got butthurt because someone caught him exaggerating the truth?

Those two should keep each other busy for a long time.

That is some really good production for that splitter.

Butt hurt? Not quite. Nowhere ever did I say I have a faster splitter. I did say if he was 6 times faster, he should easily be able to split 18 cords in a day. No thanks, I don't keep company with people who try to screw others over with false claims

Size of splits and length play a huge role too. My wood is cut to 16" and splits average 3"x 4"

Good to know you are out there policing the internets to make sure everyone is being 100% honest.

If you could please refocus your efforts on DC, yeah, that'd be great.
