http://www.extension.iastate.edu/forestry/iowa_trees/trees/basswood.htmlMy guess is basswood/linden. I burned a fair bit of it. When dry it is lighter than pine.
Well look at the leaves compare to my links. Was thinking cottonwood or some type of poplar but would really like to know exact species. Either way, it's going in my owb but I just want to know.
I think it is or you are close yes , Was it heavy wet and smelly?Certainly not Bradford pear. Am thinking one of the cottonwoods, possibly black.
Yes. The smell was distinct but not bad.I think it is or you are close yes , Was it heavy wet and smelly?
Sounds like we are spot on or real close.Yes. The smell was distinct but not bad.
That narrows it down. What kind of poplar? Aspen, cottonwood, etc..You have POPLAR, soft wood, heavy with water, punky smell, diamond shapes on the bark. Where it's dark and discolored in the center will be soft due too rotting.
