I believe he meant "just okay" compared to a ported saw, which I completely agree with. Running a ported saw definitely takes some of the fun out of running a stock saw.

In that case of course I agree -- I had already said as much previously.

Since starting this thread and talking to several guys via PM I've decided to not even get one of the Swedish Tree slayers done just yet. Hannah (my PS-5100 S) has for the most part been sitting idle for a couple years with very little use. I've discussed it with @jmssaws and he's going to do the porting and mm to her first. This way when I turn loose of Heidi (the 346) Hannah will come back as a screaming German banshee and be the primary limber while I send the Swede off.

Yes I name my saws.

Helga - 395XP
Hilda - 372XP
Heidi - 346XP
Hannah - PS-5100 S

I have never named my Stihls. Nothing against them I do like them I just never felt compelled to give them names. I just got a homelite super ez but she doesn't run like the guy claimed so until I get her running I won't be able to name her.

I think the 5100 and 346 overlap use a bit, but on boards like this one can never have too many saws.

Yes that's true. I actually was using the Dolmar as my primary limbing saw first - several years before getting the 346. I became enamored with the rep of the 346 so had to have one. Saws break so having 2 saws in the same cc class never hurts.

In fact I'd like a backup for Hilda (372). She's still running strong as an ox but she's been rode hard for a long time and has a lot of miles on her so who knows when she'll lay down. I don't have anything but her between my 50cc saws and Helga (395) so if Hilda goes down that's a huge gap. As much as I would like a 576 I would prefer something a little lighter than Hilda for a backup, so I am thinking of getting into the 60ish cc class. I ran a stock MS362 Friday for a couple of hours and was completely underwhelmed. I'm leaning toward a 562XP as a lighter, slightly less powerful backup to the 372. It would also be my first AT saw. I would have to think of a good name for her though. Hillary is out . . . . .

Hedwig has a good ring to it. Sounds like a hard working shield maiden. However I could not find that name on a female Swedish name list anywhere, but did find Hadwig. I'll have to run her for a week or two before naming her though. Thanks for the idea I will keep Hedwig/Hadwig at the top of the list unless something else comes up after running her. I don't have a local Husky dealer very close where do you suggest buying the saw if not locally?

If you don't have a local husky dealer I assume you do work on your own saws. Since you don't need local dealer support the options are either

eBay - for the unscrupulous husky sellers since husky has prohibited online sales, but they are often desperate to move their inventory and offer good deals with no sales tax.

Baileys - their catalog is printed and online, and I believe they sell via "phone" orders, and sometimes offer good packages with bar/chain combos.

A site sponsor - many will suggest to throw some money back into this community. I have no recommendations.

A saw builder - to save money on shipping and time if you plan to port the saw right away.

Not owning a 562AT I just know that your only concern will be the AT software, which I believe you can download and run on a personal computer to diagnose/troubleshoot any issues that come up.

I was also going to check with left coast supplies they're a j'red dealer. Been trying to throw them most of my biz since Bailey's sold out but still do by from Bailey's when I have to. Best price I have found thus far on the 562XP is at Russo's for $700 delivered with 20" b & c. Left Coast Supplies has the CS2260 for $639 powerhead only shipping not included. Gotta do a little more research on the CS2260 - I think it is butt ugly but I can get used to that I guess.

The 2260 has the same rated power as the 562. It is slightly lighter and has a straight handle rather than the curved of the 562. The air filter is smaller and it uses the small mount bar. If you want a new ported 562 or 2260, somebody like Terry Landrum could probably make a good price on the saw and porting combined.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm a little partial to these large cc Husqvarnas.
It shows! I'm quite used to my 394 and when I ran Keiths 395... :chainsaw:

TT, did you have the opportunity to chat with anyone who has used jmssaws before? I've never heard of him, not that that means anything... Is he a regular to a specific GTG thread?

No I didnt. I spmt some time with him on the phone which does not translate into a great saw but being a good judge of character with an above- average karma meter, I dexided to take a chance on him. Someone has to be the first and I don't mind. I'll definitely keep yall updated and give a full review of the saw after a few tanks

I hear you on the heat. I just turned 56 last month and have been logging in heat indexes well a ove 100 myself, but I just can't go like I used to be able to. I can last about 6 hours tops in this heat. I took off today to let my old miscles try to heal but I'll be back at it tomorrow all alone. Cant get those young uns to show up in this heat. They too smart I'm a just dumb Irishman don't know any better.
