No. I only have a small sample of data. Perhaps others could post their information as well.
N-835960 (black/white decals)
N-827656 (black/white decals)
N1-872871 (red/white decals)
N1-880312 (red/white decals)

I didn't think to look at my 621's and now I see your numbers are for 621's.....
I did get the numbers and type of AF cover from 5 of my 80's though.....unfortunately they are all early with black and white decals...

430565.......B&W...no AF cover
441369.......B&W...Round AF cover
456328......B&W...Round AF cover
461915.......B&W...no AF cover
462927......B&W...Round AF cover

Lol...more confusion....you'd think the early ones sold back east would have the flat bottom AF cover. But the PO's could have replaced the flat bottom with the bigger round filter and cover. Heck, if I was running an 80 back in the day and I heard there was now a bigger filter for it, I'd have been all over that. Nobody cared if they were period correct back then. My original 80 came with the round cover, circa mid 70's. Actually since my original 80 lost its serial plate and was a totally rebuilt saw from a saw shop....I have no idea what it looked like new.

Did the 80 ever come with the red/white decal? I've seen 80's with the newer decal on the recoil (which can be swapped with latter 801/90), but the only handle bracket decal I've ever seen on a 80 was the black and white one.

I dunno......I assumed they changed around the same time the 52/52E and 621 did ....

I've never seen one, but then I don't think I have any later model run examples. And all the NOS recoils I've ever seen on eBay have been B&W. That's probably a better litmus test;if the only NOS or original recoil assemblies on ebay are all B&W, chances are they were never red/white.

Oh, you said handle bracket too....never seen that in anything but B&W, as well. So you've seen NOS/OE recoil assemblies with the red/white factory decal(not the aftermarket decals)?

A little more info on the 80 decal thing.....my 1983 IPL doesn't show either decal but does list the part #'s

504 88 99 00 for the recoil cover decal

504 99 05 00 for the 80 decal on the top handle mount

Following the recoil decal # to a 621 IPL (1982) the pic shows it to be the red and white one.....

Does anyone have an earlier than 1983 80 IPL listing the same or different # for the top handle mount decal? That might tell us if they did or didn't change the decal to red and white too.

Of course I read my 80 IPL to say that if you needed a recoil decal in 1983 you would get the later red an white one as the black and white ones were NLA and not to mean the 80 necessarily ever came with the red and white one from the factory......interesting.....

I wonder if the change came around the time of the 801 replacing the 80. And, they didn't necessarily change all saws at the same time.
I've always liked the black and silver recoil decal against the red (if you hadn't figured it out from my little picture).

Perhaps....I know the 801 had the red and white top handle sticker.......I also agree the Black and silver decal is classier/nicer....

I've never seen a NOS/OE recoil assembly for sale that was anything but black and silver for the 80. Makes sense though that J'red would offer the red & white sticker as a parts replacement, while phasing out the original. We may never get to the bottom of whether or not the red & white sticker was ever on the 80 from the factory. That may have to come from some last yr run production examples....and how would you know...lol

So I woke up this morning, laying in bed with my eyes still closed, my mind jumped immediately to my 621 project. It received a new OEM piston, great comp, vac checked good, excellent spark, but no vroom vroom with a spray of mix. Got to be timing. I hopped out of bed, wife says "you getting up already", I say "gotta pee, and there is something I need to do." Beautiful day here, sunny and 40', good day to be in the garage. As it turns out my timing was way too advanced. Now I'm good to go. I still need to do a little carb work and clean up the bar, but it's basically done. I also took a few photos of my 49sp I bought from @Modifiedmark.

LOL!! Good for you Sam!!! Figured you got straightened out.....read your earlier post asking on timing info so when I went out this morning I stopped at the shop and grabbed the shop manual so I could give you the directions directly from the book......but when I got back your post was deleted!! I still can if you want the particulars....

You can get 28" J'red scabbards, but they don't add-on like Stihl and others to make them longer. Looks like from the pic these are 18"-22" depending on where you cut them.

My experience with plastic scabbards is that if you slam them on and off...or take them off so that the cutters hook them a bit, you'll lose at lot of the life of the cover......your chain will start sticking through. I didn't used to care when they where cheaper, but 28" J'red scabbards are about $20+ now on the bay.

Yeah, I saw in my email he had posted, went in here and didn't see the post.....lol

Looks like when you posted Robin, you got it included somehow in his quote/pic space, instead of outside. I've done that by accident sometimes. Especially with pics, you have to keep scrolling until your new post is below all that.
