Another one bites the dust!

I can think of only 2 saw builders that haven't been run out of here on a rail. Ken Dunn and Dean. All the others were caught red handed being crooks or Liars! It's a tough business, building the saws is the easy part.

Ben is NOT a crook, nor do I think anyone is accusing him of that, I most certainly am not!!!
And it's not a bandwagon!! I have nothing to gain by badmouthing Ben, nor do I really want to. He and I have had conversations via PM and e-mail and he knows how I feel, so this is not comming as a suprise to him! He has a great idea, but he is young and disorganized. Thats it!!! He never tried to rip me off!! I doubt he tried to rip anybody off! It's hard guys, some can do it, some can't!!! I give him props for trying, and a lot of us don't have nuts to do that!! Everytime he screwed up he sent me more to try and make up for it, I stated that before, it just couldn't be done in a timely manner, that was my complaint, thats it!! And I am fairly certain that is the majority of the complaints! No ripp offs, no scandles, just plain old disorginization!!
Sorry Ben, I have no real beef with you, and certainly wanted to hold my tounge in hopes you could ge it lined out. I know it's tough!

This is what I was meaning Andy. Just funny that business can be conducted on the board, but not negative feedback.

I also had dealings with Ben late last summer over a muffler and feel as if I had been lied to several times concerning ship dates. I had the details of the transaction saved in a PM here for warning folk that asked about which builder to use (which I did via PM several times), but it appears that old PMs are either deleted periodically by the system or it has been deleted by someone with system access. I alerted Darin to my problem with Ben at the time but did not take it to public forum.

All of you who had Ben do work for you, were you pleased with the work when you did get it back? Woods port, mufflers, whatever...
 
When I sent my 361 to Big Dave for woods porting, I made the point of asking what he thought of the muffler mod. His response was a politically correct, "Let's just say I re-did it." Take from that what you will. As a side note, Dave had my saw ported and back to me in 7-10 days, and that includes shipping both directions. Ben took 4 weeks on a simple muffler mod.

De nada. Shoot me a pm if you talk to him and learn anything interesting. I am trying to decide whether to get my money back or have him go ahead and do the woods port. He seems like a really nice guy, but of course I don't know him. I feel badly that he's being lambasted on AS.

Ditto that, I had mine back in 7 days. 2 of those days it was in transit, so he had it a total of 5 days.

no one is reading or deleting PMs. maybe they kicked to the 2nd or 3rd page of your PMs, or you got in a hurry and deleted them by accident. the system doesn't automatically delete them as far as I know, I get mailbox full messages all the time.

I'm in the same boat as Zemmo, I put half down on a woods port. I know that another another builder may not like the other "guys" work but if it makes the same power then Ben just has a time problem.

Hey Ben, how about a pm or email([email protected]) to clear some of these statements up. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt because you seem like a nice person of the phone...

I think after reading all of this one thing is clear Ben has been a busy guy whe maybe jst took on to many projects at once. I run a small business with a friend and we often get in over our heads and jobs take way to long and it sucks but i think the one thing ben didn't do is just be honest with his customers. Especially cutomers from this website where a little honesty goes a long way. No is no shame in the truth.

p.s. he woods ported my 346xp and yes it took a long time but i hope it was worth the wait in the long run. He never asked for more money or tried to rip me off.
