I don't see why anyone would be offended by the operator presence thing, ...
I don't even register it being there, so I have no beef with it!
Same goes for the chain brake, it gets activated so rarely (and when it does it is mostly on purpose) that I find the lever to be more of a hand guard than anything else.

CAT mufflers on a chainsaw, stupidest thing ever! :nofunny:

I'm just glad non of mine have that dreaded thing.
I could like me a Stainless Steel muffler though! ;)

The big chunk of rubber crap hanging inside the clutch cover on my 576 XPG that is there only to plug easier while noodling . W cover was the ultimate solution [emoji846]

If the chain break is used it definitely isn't needed. But you could definitely fall on your saw and hit the throttle. It's definitely designed for those special people who own saws that shouldn't.

Easy the flippy cap over engineering pos.

it's easy to say a safety feature is useless until you run into a situation where you are glad you had it. it's a just in case thing and is valuable to anyone. i don't know about you but i think it would be pretty hurt'n to fall on a revving saw. hell, cutting cookies ya may as well strip all the features off the saw including the brake cause very likely they won't be needed. i agree about the people own saws that shouldn't comment though. heck i've met alot of people who could talk like they can use the saw but then watch them use it and they are scary as can be. 10 year old girls are capable of cutting a few cookies.

LOL all this flippy cap hate is amusing.. Perhaps that 10 year old little sister can teach you hoe to open and close a flippy cap? :D

I'll gladly keep my throttle interlock... It's a feature I won't work without. And the chainbrake. Those 2 might be the best features on a saw. Just my opinion.

i kinda like chain catchers too lol 20" bars ain't so critical but throwing a chain off a 30"+ with nothing to catch it can be pretty hurt'n. it also happens everyday outside the world of firewood and cookie cutting.

Firstly my youngest sis is 48, second ; its not that i don't know how its just they are over engineered pos that break should never have escaped quality control and were made to fix a non issue in the first place.

I have seen it from both sides of the fence I have to say I have seen many of the screw in caps that were broken when people used a scrench to over tighten the cap and even had broken flippy caps bought in for repair.. in most cases operator error is the root cause. I think of it as progress. For the few that hate the caps the overwhelming majority use them just fine with no issues. I would expect more of the tree companies having issues with the flippies but it seems its the homeowners that do. I do enjoy when someone comes in looking for a saw and then tells me of the hate of the flippy cap. I walk them over to the saws and in 3 mins they are curious why all the hate.

An idiot can break anything, but the flippy cap is still a solution in search of a problem. It certainly does nothing to address the situation where somebody applies too much force. Increased complexity can be acceptable if it leads to something that works better, but in this case it doesn't. Was the extra number of turns required to remove/install a cap really a big problem?

Complexity for the sake of complexity is called "German Engineering".

I do not see it as a problem, the vast majority of customers I sell them to see it the same way, a simple twist, open simple twist again closed. I think them a very elegant solution. If they were such a big problem they surely would be phased out and old faithful would be brought back IMHO. While I have to agree somewhat that the old style were fine, the new ones are as good if not better. If they were not I am sure that more then a handful of people would be voicing their opinions.

From a quality control standpoint alone, they should never seen production. I left stihl the minute they came out and the all in one choke BS switch. I liked the days of the 075 but soon after they went to gadgets I went orange and love it.

I fail to see the problem with either the Master Control Lever/Switch or the flippy caps. I never have understood the big deal made about either one of these. With the caps, you simply need to pay attention when installing them. I like them.
That why i say po tatoe and you say po tot o
