How big a saw do I need?

Why do you want to cut down all the big trees? Those look like nice trees. For firewood I prefer 10 inch trees. Much easier on the back.

I like to use the smallest saw that will do the job. I doubt my back would take brush cutting with a 390XP.

Straight up, my Dad used the Echo 440EVL with an 18" bar, that he bought new in like 1986(ish) and a top handle Homelite for all of his/our firewood growing up, until I got into saws in my late 20's. Anything up to like 24" oak. It takes a while, but as long as it's less than 2x the bar length, it works. I sold him a Husqvarna 41 that I picked up cheap, after that, and when we cut together, I cut the big stuff with my 371. I literally just sold him my original 550XP (I got a new one under warranty and bought this one from Husq and fixed it myself, instead of sending it back), this weekend.

gonna need a pic with something in it to scale up the tree's. don't know what others are seeing but i'm seeing saplings just turning tree lol couple minute job with the 009 in the right hands.

Thanks for the replies. I have a 372 Husqvarna coming from eBay with 20 inch bar and chain.

West coaster I know how to do a lot of work with a small saw. Been running saws for years. Every size.

372 Is a really nice saw. Personally if I were buying that land, i would of let the 460 do the cutting and put the money towards a chipper for all the branches and saplings you may be thinning out.

Ok so we passed on that house with 14 acres. Research and thinking concluded a money pit. Looking at another house between 8-9 acres. New well new water pipes new tile in bathrooms hardwood floor redone house in great shape ( so it says all that in ad). Still would be lots of trees to trim and cut.

Been cutting firewood a few years since 1981 . A three saw mix is nice 50 70 90 cc on the ground , Anything in between seems like there trying to hard . I grab the 372 most of time . The other 2 for extra small or large .

Wait for the new 5 series Husky saw in the 372 class due this month I believe, so I've heard. If you're not up to the latest and greatest there are plenty of 372xt out there. I really like mine. Ported of course.

While not nearly experienced as the others I love my 6401 for big, Maruyama 51 (rebranded 5105) for medium and 400 for limbing and smaller stuff. That 6401 is a beast.
