Reading my email today and decided to go to ebay and check my purchases, while I was at it I noticed another positive feedback recently posted. I clicked on it and they told me how they were very happy with the saw that they purchased from me. The problem is, the saw didn't sell and I didn't relist it. There wasn't any evidence in paypal that the saw was paid for either. I went out to the shop and checked to be sure and the saw is still there. What gives?

I keep a record of every sale (there's not been many lately) I checked the item number and it never got sold. I checked my feedback, that's where I saw that he was happy with the saw. The name sounds familiar but he's definitely not the buyer of the saw.

Click on that auction. Sometimes either my computer, or e-bay, or whatever, remembers an old "small pic" from another auction, but when I open it up, the correct pic is there. Probably a gliche in my old "puter"...

A few years ago, I had an issue with E-Bay in regards to posting an ad. It was long enough ago, that I don't recall exactly what issue I was having at the time. But, I do remember it being a really weird one that I could not figure out.

Long story made short, I had to contact E-Bay and they worked out the bugs.

Now I remember. It was in regards to posting pics of what I wanted to sell. When I tried to upload (or is it download) the pics, the ones that came up were not mine.

The pics were those of someone else and they weren't even close to what I was wanting to post. I tired several times to get my pics posted, but each time I tried, someone else's pic turned up.

I got on the old mower for a few minutes and finally figured it out. It's not a scam but unusual. The fellow did actually buy the saw on the "Buy it Now" thing and I saw where it sold and went out to pack it up, came back in the house and saw where he cancelled the sale. That was several weeks ago so I forgot all about it until he sends me this positive feedback saying how well the saw runs and he's happy with it. I generally don't ever receive feedback on my sales even when they do like them so thought it was unusual to get a positive on a saw that didn't sell. I haven't relisted it, kinda grown accustomed to having it around, along with all the Poulan 25s that didn't sell either..This one was a Super 2.

So why the heck would he leave feedback if he cancelled, lol. Still makes no sense. I wonder if he is trying to get his own feedback without buying anything. Strange.

I gave him positive feedback when he paid promptly like I do everybody else, maybe he felt guilty for cancelling the sale. He waited quite a while before issuing the pos. feedback for me, that's why I was confused. I've sold other saws like this one so I thought for a while that it might have been one of the others that I sold last year or so. I haven't sold but one saw in two months so I knew it wasn't recent. I been kinda busy working on saws and getting mowers ready that I haven't taken the time to sell any saws lately..

I mistakenly bought a bar .325 but .050 instead of .063. I messaged if hadn't shipped , keep it and refund half since my bad. He refunded full. So I left good feedback anyway. Same on seller where Post Office lost (or stole) new USG grinder.

Whenever I get a "cancel Order" request, I refund them immediately.

They would otherwise get their money back
anyway, for whatever reason anyway, and the seller would lose money on half, or more likely all of the shipping and get bad feedback too!!!!
I always hate when folks inquire ahead of time, asking, would this part fit on a MS280?, or whatever. I always tell them no, because if they buy it anyway to try it, they will say it is defective so the seller has to pay shipping both ways, and the full refund, etc....

I have to admit, I have blocked a few e-bayers in advance.

If they ask 17 questions, picking your brain, and you spend a lot of time to help them with info. Most time they take that info and buy elsewhere, which is fine, because if they should buy something from you, it is almost a gaurantee
that yoiu will have problems with him............

I'm not to crazy about selling something to someone who asks a big bunch of questions, I usually describe everything I sell and have enough pictures so they can tell what they're getting. If a chainsaw, for example has a cracked clutch cover I generally don't put it up for sale until I fix it or they'll claim you sold them a defect even if you put it in your ad that the crack was there.

I have had folks still buy something after I responded to them that the part wouldn't fit their piece of equipment, they
wanted to try it anyway, and expect me to pay shipping both ways. It makes things real aggravating.

John, I'm really needing an intake boot for an MS 280. Just smartened up an old 028 Farm Boss. Good saw, but don't like the choke, airfiltre situation. It restricts air flow.
Irregardless, I got beer!

There are high numbers of members on these forums who also sell on eBay. They treat each other with the utmost respect on the forums while they pull very unfriendly stunts on eBay.
I'm one of the annoying careful buyers who's been blocked by a couple sellers who don't like answering important questions about basic condition. Not fitment, but straight up "are there any broken or cracked parts". That seems to offend more than you'd imagine. I've been an ebayer for over 12 years now with 100% positive feedback. I'm not trying to punk anyone, I'm just trying to make my living.

I'm not directing this towards anyone else in this thread. Lol, I just get a little fired up once in a while when I read topics on eBay and then start thinking of my own experiences.
