Ok....if this was me....this saw needs a complete teardown and refresh unless you KNOW it was straightgassed. Even then...this is an older model saw..and would do best with a complete rebuild.

Follow my 262xp vids. Very similar. Tear her down...clean and rebuild. New bearings and seals etc. The saw is worth it....so do it. :)

cool! thanks a lot for the advice and videos! I will begin my work asap.

Will post pictures and hope for a word or two on it while I go at it.

First broken piece, the fuel pump, I know this probably don't effect anything but leaky oil, but still.... WP_20170525_13_15_23_Pro.jpg

Is that a "part list" recalling finding that on google, trying to figure out how and what part comes off where haha thanks will ask on the site.

finished watching the video on the 262. Gotta say, part2 makes me rethink if it's worth going in to.....I don't have most of that equipment for dismantling/burning/fitting etc. :/

Well....it's worth it to some people. The 254 is a worthy saw to rebuild.

Think of it another way...ya just bought a bmw.... but it's got 200000 miles on it. It might run. ..it might not. Best to rebuild before putting it to use. Is it worth it? Your call ....time...money...ambition. ..tools. :)

well problem is, the tools+parts will cost more than a new similar saw.
Unless I can stop here where I am, and hope the cleaning will do it. I took off everything, but the crankshaft and the part where you pull the entire thing in 2 pieces.
I am guessing thats the most important part!? :D

List of things to replace so far.

Fuel filter
Spark Plug (just because)
Oil pump (most likely)
Piston + bearing
Gaskets? (haven't seen any gaskets that has been damaged or worn to a point that it's obvisouly broken)
Sealing Colar (plastic piece between carburator and cylinder is broken)

anything I forgot? :)

I will post a few pictures of my progress, and what I seem to be stuck at (Crank and the seals)

Gimme an hour or so :)

Ok, I might need a few tips on it then, this is where I am at now.

Seen from both sides.
I have had the cover seal? off from the Flywheel side, but I put it back on after checking/cleaning it, since the bearings could easily take dirt or a hit when exposed.

What do I go from here? ^^ which part is it I take off and replace with new seals? :)
