Is it just a single spring loop? Couldn't remember off the top of my head. Spending money on saws becomes a problem. I try and find issues or modifications just so I can by more bits...

Should be this one.

Adam08ski, I am with you there.....but it's so worth it.
When I spend too much money on my projects, I buy a used saw, clean it, make it run, and sell it again for minor profit...95% of the time its a Stihl MS180, 250 or 260 or the likes.
And here I am...using a Husqy 254xp for my own, tell me I am doing something right here....

I forgot the clutch needle bearing one day....had a hell of a time figuring out what was wrong. Hit the chainbrake...shouldn't stall the motor.

If it does...something is binding too much.. the spring keeps the shoes seated at idle. ...so they don't engage until you hit the gas
If the spring is worn...it'll engage at a lower rpm..
