After posting the 'only one saw' question (Which had some really interesting results, I posted them on that thread) I figured I ask another interesting question and see where you guys stand on this one. What sub 50cc saw would you say is the absolute best?

242xp/346xp/246xp

Best small saw? I like my little Echo CS2600ES, purchased from Australia in my case. It is reliable, light, adequately powerful, has neat fuel and oil caps that fit over, not in, the filler threads, has th Easy Start feature that eliminates pulling a separate choke control But most of all, it is the best for me because it is well-tailored to the kind of work that I do in the orchard. I also have the Dolmar 5100S and think highly of it, for different uses.

346xp

gotta be the 346xp. I had a 026 for 14 years or so, and sold it after I bought the 346xp. love it:rockn:

Huskey 350. Lots of them to be had on e-bay, some times cheep too!
Hard to tell apart from the 346xp.
With a manual decomp button for easy starting it's a great saw for the bucks

I think I would go one step farther and get the 353 it is less money then the 346 and it has a metal crank case unlike the 350 with it's plastic case... although all three are good little saws.

Saw familys

This family of saws; 350, 353 and 359 are geat starter saws/ farm saws.
I use my saws alot and love that family of the 346, 357 and 575xp saws.
Buy a 350 and put a 16" bar on it. It'll be the best!

353/359 hardly are farm/starter saws... and 350 doenst even belong to same family, it belongs to same family as 340/345/350 while 353/359 belong to 346xp/353/357xp/359 family.... :greenchainsaw:

Another vote for the 346 or 353. Have a 353 myself and I love it.
Compared to the 026, you can clearly feel the improvements ....

If this was a poll, I would have voted husky 346xp/xpg, but my wife wants a Dolmar 5100, whether it is 49.9, 50.2 or 50.7ccs.....:bang:

Stihl MS260. Husky 353, 346XP. Jonsered 2152. They're all good quality saws. Go handle them and go from there. Good luck and let us know!

I don't know about "absolutely best" as there isn't such a thing that will meet all needs that all people have. For single-digit cords of wood per year and property maintenance, I'm loving my MS260. I took down a 30" maple with it this weekend and I didn't feel the urge to go out and buy a bigger saw at the end of the day. Everyone has different criteria for judging what they like a saw to do though.
