Between the two choices you are looking at I would go the 7900 Dolmar.
Best reason is.
None of us have to watch Mow do cart wheels and hand stands in his Cheer leading outfit because you bought a Stihl.

But everybody looks forward to it.:(

Whatever your choice, don't buy the Husky 372XP.

(Gosh dern things gotten so popular, I can't find one for a decent price)

a couple of the hardwood loggers have had the 441 since they came out, lakeside is right,no issues run and cut great.
If you could run a demo of each saw you could decide yourself what you like, you'll be the one running not us on here.
that 7900 is a bargain, used a demo, motor on that thing has a powerband like nothing I have ever used, lugs down like an old saw and revs like a new saw.
happy hunting on you new saw purchase.

You should have "Spin Doctor" or "MD of Spin" under "Manual.":jester:
I would like to run a J-Red to see what the handle fuss is about.

the fuss is like anything else, First time you pick it up you will go "Hmmmm" Use the saw for a while and you will never know the differance.

Jhellwig, not to offend you but your stumps look very akward.

no face, no hinge, high stump, backcut too low or too high.

not criticizing, just friendly advice :)

being the big guy you are, I would go with a 7900 !

Wow, you are paying attention. I was distracted by the big guy and the little saw (formerly resembling that remark....the saws got bigger, I didn't get smaller). I've got to agree. Not much control there over the fall.

Yeah you will go typical. Another piece of Poulan sh!t :jawdrop:

Well since you got a Dolmar dealer you must at least check him out, the 7900 seems to be a saw that make it's owner happy !!

forget the 460

I would place my money on a Stihl MS 650 w 28" bar and full skip chain:chainsawguy: .too make that 026 really sing put full skip chain on her:jawdrop:

jhellwig,

I sure wish you would have stopped last Saturday to chat, To answer your question no matter how much bashing or praise each saw gets here the simple fact is you need to look at your dealer. Of all the saws: Dolmar 7900, Stihl 440/441/460, and Husky 372 you will not find a bad one as they will all serve you well. I would go with great dealer support which is what you have in Tim over in Ft Madison. If he is selling the saw and using it then go with him. He has no reason to mislead you. You do not have to wonder as he will back it up. Another option is you have a very good Echo/Jred dealer over on 218. He is a very straight forward guy. Personally I would be less worried about the brand as I would the guy behind it.

On a side note I will not be a West Point Saturday as they did not have a sanctioned pull. Are you boing to Mt P ? I have not had lucj with them in the past regarding saws for reasons that are inconsistent but I am willing to give it a try again if there is interest.

Get with the times, technolegy is a wonderfull thing,if the old models are so good they wouldnt bring out new models.

Cheers

Ironically, They announced today that the rights to DMC have been purchased, and a small group of workers are going to be producing NEW Deloreans, using the same Anemic 2.8l V6.....:hmm3grin2orange:

And now to answer the questions.

Negative.

Angle of the camera playing with your eyes. Nice big face, 2 or three inches above the face on the back cut. The one I am cutting on I goofed. Ment for it to fall in the direction of where the camera is but I couldn't wedge it over and had to abandon cutting before I chopped out my hinge. Just enough breeze that day to keep it standing straight. I leave my stumps tall because I am tall. Easier to cut and I can focus more on the movement of the tree that way. I end up going back and leveling the stumps off later. That is the way I feel comfortable doing it anyways.

And now the moment you have all been waiting for...........................

Crappy pics even.

Comparison to a 16" duromatic bar.

$720 buck with a 25" rollomaticES with 33RSC3-84. Free loop of 33RM, couple of files and a hat(my timber wolf will hump your husky raw there newguy18). Got out the door for $804 with the file kit, wedge and fuel cap I got.

Now for the part where I jump up and down and rave about how freaking great this saw is!!!!!!!!!!:chainsawguy: It pulls the 25" bar excellent in 26" dry oak and that is only on the 2nd tank or fuel. It might be heavy but once you get used to it just rocks. I always thought a 16" bar was great but that 25 is just the right length for me to chunk trees while standing straight up. Gonna have to get a 20 for it cause 25 is just way to long to keep out of the dirt on the medium stuff.

Bill G. Tim lost a sale because he wasn't there at 10:00 Friday morning. I agree though that there isn't realy a bad one in that bunch you listed but I went with what I had access to at my whim. And yes I will be at Mt. Pleasant.
