Where's spacemule? I'd be more apt to believe that there are advantages to utilizing an existing model that has already been approved for import.
I have to agree with Scott, confusion will reign later; it needs some type of distinction. Perhaps there is a distinction in the serial numbers.

Why would Husky introduce a new displacement saw into the market WITHOUT a model number change??????????? or even to add a letter to the 346 nameplate.. So down the logroad a few years when a cust says he needs parts for a 346 who knows what saw he will have????

Scott
I was wondering the same thing. How about a 346XP Special, or just 346 Special?

I agree, they should have called it 349xp, or 352xp. :pumpkin2:

On the flip side, it is real easy to distinguish from the old version (lots of tell-yale indicators), and the serial number will tell the year and week of production.;)

All things considered, no real problem, but stupid anyway.....:taped:

hey Sawtroll how is it comparing to the Dolmar 5100

Close - but I will not do any serious comparison before they both are run in.....:hmm3grin2orange:

The Husky sure is the more nimble and better handling saw, but I didn't need to try one to know that.......

With a bar longer than 16", the Dolmar probably will gain "points" though, for better balanse (more rear heavy powerhead) - but in my book that is 60cc territory......

I like the 20” Microlite bar on mine (46cc…346 classic?). Less father to stoop over, better overhead reach for limbing and works for bucking too. I’ll switch to the 18” bar when the 20” loops are dull. I like to re-sharpen back in the shop on the vice.

I love my 346XPG classic and used to have a 350, I would think the 346XP NE would be the best of both.

If you must have a 20", I believe the Microlite Pro/95VP setup is a good one.....

....but I prefer to bend over a little.....:)

We give it a new part number in our system so we know. That's why we give the new 372 full wrap a 375 part number. Why Husky doesn't is beyond me. Maybe too many Nascar stickers and not enough engineers!

it seems both jonsy and husky are on sale over here now, about 780e for jonsy...

Nice pictures Troll
Does the Husky and the Dolmar use the same bar type ( Husky small mount)?
Thanks

Yes, but the one on the Dolmar is 3/8", and the ones on the Husky is .325 - they will be swapped around a bit, and a .325x8 included in the mix, when the saws are run in........

Sawtroll - Some of those chunks of firewood look awefully short. Do you cut them that short for a reason or do you just cut them to the length of the bar on the saw your currently using? (13" or 15") lol j/k
