I hope she does lol.
Talked with the guy I got those logs from right after you left. He wants me to cut another very large(bigger than the logs I got you) white pine down there this winter, also 3 other trees. Maybe I can get a couple more logs for you. This one was hit by lightening at least a couple times, it's pretty tall.
Thanks for stopping by, and for the wood :).

That way let's the oil drain off the saw directly under them. I would think that the oil puddle would be smaller than if you put the saws on shelves. At our town barn they have all their saws hanging from the wall with cardboard under them for the dripppings.
I keep a layer of wood chips on the bottom of the rack.

G'day fellers,

I had a very brief opportunity to get out to the farm this arvo, less than 2 hours of scrounging time. Bits and pieces really, from the broad leaf peppermint thicket I have been scrounging recently. A lot of smallish trees have fallen over here in recent years, some are a bit past their best while others are eminently scroungable. The ones half embedded in dirt are bonfire material. But here's what I got.

Sure, they're Ugly Logs TM but the stove loves them just the same. I also picked up some other scrounge left by someone previously (me).

And this left by someone (also me)

So I ended up with this in the ute

plus a trailer load of bonfire junk and poles

Then I got showered and changed and back to work for a few hours.

Scrounge on

I've got a hatchet that I use for marking cuts on logs. But the damn head always comes loose.

It's got 3 wedges and a screw in there. That's the way I got it (gift).

I didn't really want to just put in a new handle and start over. I haven't had too much luck finding the right handle or grinding one to fit.
Try to pull one or more of the wedges out and put in a bigger one? Put in one of those circle wedges (source?)?

I have done several dozen tool handles but I am far from an expert on this stuff and won't claim to be.

If it was me, I would try to get the other wedges out. Then I would start with a much more stout wood wedge and complement it with a couple of triangle wedges placed end to end that were parallel with the cutting edge. Then soak it in enough Wadca (Watco) or water to completely cover the head for at least a week.
