I picked up a 266xp from A member her a while back. It “ran” prior to teardown but not well. Comp was 200# which was odd. Base gasket was still there, so, weird…
previous owner had installed a Meteor piston assuming a 266cyl.
I discovered the oddity when I noticed the carb block/spacer was different that a 268 I also have torn down. Couldn’t match that block with anything IPL wise for 50mm Husky.
tried Jons…there it is, 630 model.
the crank #s check for a 266. I have a now 50mm piston and it does not quite match the Meteor. Not just windowed vs non…OE is taller by about 2mm and the pin position is off as well.
seems like I got a frankinsaw.
question: will this work?
next task is to try each piston and measure squish.
