I was going through some fishing photos I took on a remote Canada fly-in two years ago and came across this photo of a deserted trapper cabin that was at the lake we were on. This saw looks as though it had been sitting under this cabin for quite some time. I can't identify it - was wondering if any of you guys could??

Thanks Al

Yeah.

After looking at acresinternet, it's definitely a Pioneer, has some similarities to this model:

But also some stark differences.

It looks as though it's an earlier version almost - but definitely a Pioneer 600 series of some type. The loose script logo on the filter cover gives it an older look. At any rate it's a large saw. . I bet it would have some neet stories to tell being that far out in the "sticks"!

Here's the Cabin.

I thought you might enjoy seeing the whole cabin. You can see the saw under the lower right part.

Look closer.

Jerry - I don't know if you noticed but that's not mud or moss chinking between the logs! Whomever built this place scribed and fitted wood strips to act as chinking !!! Wow talk about having time on your hands. Anyway - was really a neet place that my brother and I stumbled upon while needing a nature break. You couldn't even see the cabin from the water.
We left it just as we found it except for the couple of photos I managed to take before the skeeters drove us off!

Yes noticed a lot of familiar things, 2 handsaws hangin in the trees, looks like two snowmobile belts also, possibly water pipe and pump left front, shovel and possible axe handles left front corner of camp and a padlock on the camp door. All the back woods camps I have come across don`t have locks on them. How far in the bush is this camp, a chainsaw under the camp or just sittin inside is not rare around here in backwoods camps. If you use these camps just clean up any mess you make and replace any wood you burn,a little extra is not frowned upon. Really enjoyed this photo as it brings back many fond memories from years past. Many thanks Pioneerguy600

Hey pioneer guy, you don' happen to have an extra top cover for one of these floating around do ya?

Hey Hoss ; That is one of the hardest parts to get for these saws as a lot of them were taken for the IEL emblem and big Pioneer logo . Collectors have been known to pay more for one cover than what the saw is worth. I could use two for my saws at the moment. Pioneerguy600
