Hi folks,

I have just rebuilt an old 044 with a 460BB kit. So far, so good. When I ran it I noticed that it leaked gas really badly. On inspection I noticed that it has/had an old design vent, and the wick (which I think it was meant to have) has basically vanished. So the gas came straight through the porous cap.

So since the IPL also lists a new style vent (0000 350 5800) i.e. this

can someone here confirm that I should be able to install the new style vent onto my old tank housing, by just pressing the new one down into the circular recess on the tank?

thanks P

I think you need the orange rubber valve. Don't believe the newer style works on that tank.
It may be called an umbrella valve..

Thanks Leeroy,

Yes I checked with my supplier, and they do have that part. Thanks for sharing the product code.

How do I install it? Do I just push it tail first through the aperture in the above recess, does it somehow clamp itself tight enough to prevent gas leakage?

It is a one way check valve that seals against the inside of the tank, the "tit" locks it in place. Make sure the inside of the tank is clean so it seals and use a little oil on the "tit". You will want to push on it from inside the tank while pulling up on the tit locking it in place. You will feel it when it locks.
