046 Dual Port on an 044

Will an earlier model 044 muffler work on a later 440?

My muffler on my 044 has the stock "Big" outlet. A dual port really wasn't needed for me.

When I've swapped older mufflers onto newer saws, I've had to also match the muffler to the exhaust port. Dunno if the newer mufflers have been mismatched or not, but the older mufflers need a little attention when going on newer saws.

I can't believe no one has mentioned this, but the muffler backs are differant between the 046/460 and 044/440.

The 046/460 has a bigger outlet "scoop" and won't clear the chain brake handle on the 044/440.

The outlet holes seems to be the same, and the muffler backs apear to be the same external size, but the scoop it too large
