066 flat top

Ive got a Stihl 066 flat top with a compression release. It has the see thru gas tank and an aluminum flywheel. I bought this saw at a auction a while back. It appears To have been hit by a tree or something in that order. The wrap handle was bent and the top cover cracked. When the handle bent it cracked the tank on the clutch side behind where the wrap handle bolts to the tank. My question is will a tank from a newer saw work on the older models. I have a new 660 tank (1122 350 0817). Will this work as is, work with modifications or not work at all. Rick!

yes it will just bolt right on as they say

yeah it will work but you will need to use the late air filter cover and base as the new tank is a little wider
