Jo everyone,
Getting a couple 262 this week, oldies.....:D

I know there where smal changes up through the years, things as the flywheel, cylinder, muffler, crank, carb, and probleby more.

Some had kolbensmitt jug, some had mahle and so on.
What is best, KS or Mahle, and why?

Can anyone enlight me what excact those changes was on different parts, and when.

Regards,
Tor

The IPLs will tell you the part number changes (the IPLs are on the US and Swedish websites + more) - but they will of course not tell what the changes were about.

A few of the more important changes were the change from the HDA-87 carb to the smaller -120 and 117 at a very early stage (1991?), the addition of a decomp to the cylinder in 1994, and the change to a metal clutch cover around 1986/87.

I know that the second 262 I bought are in better shape then this one.
This one here (91mod) also need a new coil and new top cover, and probleby far more parts also. Will dismantling it more tomorrow.

Yup!

And transfer doesn't look promising either:

Hopefully the other 262 who is in the post, are better then this one!!!!!

It's a pity with that jug, I doubt it can be salvaged, but I am not sure? Those reportedly are the best 262xp jugs, but I'm not an expert....

All parts adds up with the expected time-line.
