Well you cant change what saw you have, but you can sure change the chain! A good chain and you'll pick-up alot of speed. Most of the 346 saws came with NK junk chain. Get hold of some good LP chain and your good to go!

I vote for the NE.

And I do believe the cat vs. no-cat is e-tech vs. non e-tech.

Get the NE, port the non-cat muffler and enjoy!

I'd be pissed

Even if you like the OE better (which I highly doubt, but to each his own), the fact remains that it's 3, almost 4 year old stock. The dealer should have made that clear, and you could have negotiated a fair price.

Sure you don't plan on cutting anything but small stuff now, but you may change your mind once you have a NE346XP in your hands. If it handles 10" wood as well as bigger saws in your arsenal, and it's lighter, and uses less fuel....

Check out used OE346XP prices vs NE346XP prices. The OE isn't exactly in high demand compared to the NE. That should tell you all you need to know.
