460 28" bar

okay im going to get a 28" bar for my 460 my question is should i get full comp chain for skip? this is a stock saw, i am going to be running it in oak or maple.

Full comp. That's the setup I've run on mine. You don't need skip on a bar no longer than that.

I run a 28" full comp on my 460 in red oak. Cuts it like butter with a sharp chain.

keep a clean good quality file handy and touch it up every couple of tanks and it will continue to cut like a dream,,,,,,,,

I run Stihl Rapid Super L Half Skip Klassic (RSLHK) on all my 460's and it works great with a 28" bar.I actually use it on all my saws.Very pleased with it.

28" is right for a 660. 25 is right for a 460, IMO. I REALLY like a 20 on a 460, it cuts like it was made for it! 28 is like a 20 on an 026....... easy to bog down.
My 460 came with a 25, and that bar is now on an 056 mag, which wears it right nicely.

Just my non-logger teacherman opinion,.....
