20201227_194648.jpgwhat size bar are you running? It came with a 25", which feels small.
I put a 32" with skip chain on it (hand me down from a 462)
Feels like a sluggish, dogfaced pony soldier now.
We chew alot of softer stuff, ash and locust are the toughest, poplar and pine 50% of the time.

I'm surprised about the 32". Even more so with skip on it.
The few we sold, because we cant get them, 1 had 32", which I think is a little big for the displacement, regardless.
And 2 with a 28's. No complaints. But a guy said the 28" is a beast.
We don't really deal with too many skip chains. Full comp Stihl super.

My 461 comes alive with a 32 B&C. No doubt the 500i would run well with it also.

Ok, so the 500i runs a 32" skip just fine. Might not power through tough trees at that length, but it was comparable to the 462 we stole the bar from.

On a side note, the big cottonwood I had to try it in, was rotten, and collapsed before we started the backcut. Glad we had the powerline dropped.20201229_103204.jpg20201229_103149.jpg20201229_103124.jpg20201229_103108.jpg20201229_103054.jpg

Burried it in a big Chinese Elm today. Cut great with the 32" until I started hitting nails. Sorry no pics till tomorrow.

They must need to break in. If a 80cc can't pull 32" skip something is wrong.
