I did two of my largest removals this summer. This one was for my Mom & Dad.
It was fairly easy due to not much underneath it, but it was close to their house. The only thing that was a worry was the last big wind storm had busted out the center section (the best tie-in for the whole tree) and had caused a split in the section to the left. My plan was to set a gin on the stalk, I was tied in to, tie the split section off after setting the rope with a pole extension pruner and cut it as big as possible without climbing out on it to far, but I was able to get out on the split section about half way by climbing on the backside of the piece, not to put to much pressure on the split and put a notch in it and let it go. Made a bunch of noise and scared the hell out of my parents, but it worked good. Notched and dropped the trunk at about 25-30 ft. and shook the whole house. I kinda looked like I knew what I was doing that day.
