Several years ago, we used to run the Texaco rando68 hyd oil in everything. One day the company decided to go with dextron. Since the switch to dextron, we hardly ever loose a pump any more. The switch was very expensive, some of those machines held a couple hundred gal of oil. Records have been kept on cost and even tho the dextron cost more then hyd oil, the saving in parts and down time makes it a cheaper option. I will also add that at least once a year they send a suck truck around to suck all the oil out of each machine. The suck truck has a filter and heater setup that filters the oil and heats it to remove water. Once filtered, the oil is pumped back into the machine. It usually takes a couple of days to do all the equipment on a large crew because they might be doing 50 machines per site.
