I have an old chainsaw that belonged to my wife's grandad. I know that it is a Homelite Super XL. It looks alot like the Super XL automatic pictured. Are there serial numbers or other identifying marks on it to look for ? Is it worth anything in running condition?

Hello, if your saw is blue the serial number should be under the on/off switch. If it is red then it should be on the side of the air box, were the carb. sits. Super XL's are good old work horses, probally one of the most popular saws ever. On ebay I have seen them go from $50-$400 depending on age and condition. Good Luck, Jonathan (look on ebay now, gaurenteed to see a few super XL's)
