I have made these for a while now on and off. They work great with Pine. I usually let the pine sit in the round for a year or two and then cut a pie into it leaving a couple inches at the bottom uncut. Pack a little fire starter in the middle and when they get going they will burn for a couple hours. Good for campers or a quick little fire. I sell them for $10 each. I have had people buy 10 or 15 at a time.

Fuel oil or lighter fluid work well.

I normally do "Swedish chimneys" with a hollow log but either way these are crowd pleasers when friends come over.

what do you use for fire starter ? looks like maybe sawdust and motor oil ? I am going to try a couple myself the grand kids should like them.

I use Pine Mountain Fire Starters from Walmart. You get 24 for $10, then I slice them with a knife, insert a couple slices in each Fire Torch and then mash down the top. I can do two or three Fire Torches with one starter brick.

I like them a lot better than logs in the patio wood burner bowl thing because when you’re done for the evening I just put a metal garbage can upside down over them put the fire out I can go to bed and reuse it a couple more times.
very picturesque flame coming up the middle and out the center
