Skilsaw 1616 Type 1

I have a Skilsaw 1616 Type 1 that I am trying to replace points with an ignition module. I cannot get a strong spark enough to start by hand. I can get a weak spark by spinning with an impact. I have swapped out several different coils and flywheels and still have a weak spark. Air gap is at .020 What could I be missing ? Any help will be appreciated.

There are some coil/flywheel set ups that just won't work with the chip ignition modules.

Why not just keep the points ignition? Very simple and reliable, and you may never get it to run right with an electronic module.

Where did you get the 0.020" breaker gap information?
Acres internet says breaker point gap is 0.015" .

When you say "air gap" on what? We assume you mean points.
10 on coil, 15 on points, 20 to 25 on plug.
