Decided to let the Area 51 pit bull do some biting with those teeth...

At one point it pulled the saw forward crazy but I know it's the dull chain...yeah, another dull movie:spam: and it was late too so bad quality.

Tomorrow though, I'm going to compare with a fresh filed chain.

Rick

ps...the 4 stroking off load is addicting...

Sup Tocayo and hometowns.

I compressed it using quick time and it looks a lot better.

Thank you for the cool replies. You have no idea how hard I've been hounding that 4 stroke sound off load...I didn't touch the squish, did not touch the intake at all cept for just a tad slide at the bottom of the port where it meets the skirt, other than that a mild porting on the exhaust and a muffler mod.

Sounds great Rick, angry sound. As written above, file that chain, saw can perform much better when you listen to its sound.

Keep it going,

Lex

Lex! Wassup brother!?!

I hear you hometowns. I pm'd Scott a couple of days ago asking for a more aggressive set up for the PS5100S and he recommened I swtich:

.325" out for 3/8" pitch and then run 72LGX with 7 rim

I wanted to make some comparisons and decided to start with the burnt Dolmar chain last night. It has some kind of funky "shark fin" anti kick back feature in front of the cutters but to the side a bit off each cutter. It does not look like a performer that's for sure.

Muchas gracias AS brothers.

Rick

I normally don't watch videos because of the time it takes to download, (dial up) but I've been reading your posts covering this Dolmar for quite some time now so I just had to see this beast in action, Wow that thing sounds great, good job. I can tell you are having a ball with this new hobby of yours:cheers:

In the first video I thought :" Wow he's cool sawing in total darkness just using his batlike hearing to find the wood!?!" :greenchainsaw:

But I now know what to look for in my Makita/Dolmar 5001.

Cool vid

Brother G...you made me touch the stratoshpere on that one!!!:clap:

Gracias brother. I plan on blue printing a wild build some day. I'd like to thank the hometown that has patiently taught me about why baro pressure exists, what blowdown is and how it works and the conjunctions it has with other factors...and the like. But I'm not sure if it would be cool or not to thank him publicly...I dig his style...big time sleeper dude...always lurking in the shadows to strike!!!

Before you switch out to 3/8 Give oregons new 325 a try. LPX

Thank you bookerdog, I'm going to compare this chain set up with the 3/8"

I'd prefer the 3/8, but have used as small as the 91vx on the DCS 510 and it woke up that saw something crazy. But don't like the idea of such a tiny cutter. The 325 at least has the cutter size closer to the 3/8.

Bro! Back in the summer of 1992 I was walking the streets of Salzburg and remember vividly standing outside Johann Chrysostom Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's house of birth and was imagining some of his concerto's...:rock:

Yeah Rick, 3/8" should work. Give that pist off hawg a begger kob of korn to munch on.:chainsaw:

LOL! Remember Tuesday night fights on TNT?(I can't remember the exact station) The 3/8 chain reminds of "macho time!" I miss those macho days...The 3/8 chain looks more agressive. The saws I've seen in pictures look stout with the 3/8 chain on them. I'm going to try both 3/8 and 325 for a shoot out.

Here's the hot rod stationed for "strike a pose" with the .325 It doesn't look as gnarly as the 510 with 3/8.

Thank you brother FSM. One thing I noticed about this porting is that I can lower the idle freaking low (without it turning off) and it reminds of standing at a gas station pumping gas and listening to a Ducati roll in to pump gas:jawdrop:

Here is jaws...not cool.

Rick

Filing the chain now.

The learning curve is fun

I couldn't quite get it to the last tune I had it on. I tried a few things moving my way off 4 stroking and going for high rpms. It lost it's grunt and it bogged easily when dogged.

So I went back to trying to tune it where it was before and couldn't quite get it there just yet. I'm wondering if the cool air last night helped out too with more power?

Here are a handful of videos showing the steps.

1st vid. I forgot what I was doing when I started to plunge cut and then remembered to dog. So it looks slooooooow. I also ran out of time with the internal memory and had to go get a gb card. It also 4 stroked big time on load so had to lean out.

<embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://i701.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid701.photobucket.com/albums/ww11/CHEVYTOWN/VIDS/dolmar1.flv">

2nd vid. It was still 4 stroking at the beginning of the cut. I also checked rollover.

<embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://i701.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid701.photobucket.com/albums/ww11/CHEVYTOWN/VIDS/NewProject1.flv">

3rd vid. It's beginning to come alive, but not as crazy as last night. I'm might only cut when the air is dense outside. You folks back east must have a blast with that cold air...

<embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://i701.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid701.photobucket.com/albums/ww11/CHEVYTOWN/VIDS/dolmar.flv">

4th vid. Best I could do to get it back to where it was at. On the second move of the cut, I backed off the dog to see how it felt, and it felt good. I thought I had a video where it was bogging when I had it tuned to high rpms. I'll have to go look for it again.

And it looks like a bucking bronco with tha av kicking in...

I can't wait to blue print this saw for a wild build.

This was the video where it was bogging and didn't feel as strong. The revs were nice, but I'd rather pull a tree stump...
