Best bar/chain combo for 024av Super

I picked up a nice 024 AV Super this weekend, but the bar and chain are worn out. Does anyone have a bar/chain selection guide for the 024av Super?

I have a 024 and it has a 16" .325, I wish I had a 14" for it

I use a 16" 3/8" .050 picco chain. Works real well.

I asked the dealer if a 14" bar was available, but he said no. Is there a 14" bar around that would fit it?

That is correct from Stihl. They only make 12" and 14" bars in the 3005 mount. You need a 3003 mount. That is the first 4 numbers of the PN. You might check Baileys.

+1. I just installed that B&C only in 18" on the 029 Super last night. The chain is great as well.

I have a 024 and it has a 16" .325, I wish I had a 14" for it

I was thinking maybe a 8 or 10 inch would be the right size for that saw! LOL







Just giving you stihl guys a hard time, I would think a 16 inch 325 would be about right!!!

I put a 13 incher on mine. AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the only place I could find one, its an Oregon Pro but they don't list it on there site but this is where I found mine.

Buddies wife works there. They have alot of stuff for the wood cutter.

+2 that is the sweet spot for that size saw, I run the same on my 028S

I have two bars for my 024 super: a 16" and an 18" both with .325 Stihl RSC chain.
the 16 is the way to go, but it does OK with the 18 as well...I have opened up the muffler some, though. It has plenty of power for the 16..I wouldn't bother going smaller.
