What is the best designed vertical splitter you have seen? I am planning on building one and I need some ideas for my new monster that will have a 5In cylinder and a 16GPM pump.

Dunno how it could be done but try to design it so when in the horizontal position the 'works' (tank/pump/motor/axle/wheels) are not in the operator's way. Also so it can be operated from either side.

I keep eyeballing my Troy Bilt and it seems it could be done by hanging the armature 'pivot point' on a beam out past the wheels.

Here is a brand of verticals that you don't have to kneel on the ground to use.

Doesn't the design of these splitters sort of defeat the purpose of the vertical splitter of not having to lift the large rounds?
If there wasn't the need of me lifting the wood, I'd never use my splitter in the vertical position.

Here is a picture of my Son using ours in the vertical position.

Here is a view of it in the horizontal position.

The problem I have with our splitter is that in order to have enough of the H beam to sit on the ground there is a lot of weight hanging past the axle which makes the machine a little light on the tongue. Which is also a design flaw on my part.
