When I'm out shooting I have custom made ear plugs I wear. I had them made over 40 years ago. Guy put a cotton ball in my ears and poured in a gel. Several minutes later they were done. I don't know how much they attenuate external sounds, but they work incredibly well. IMO they are overkill for chainsaw work, but if the very best is required, them is the answer.
