I first started selling some saws back in 2003.I still remember the first one I sold, and to this day,I still wake up screaming in a cold sweat ,wondering what became of that saw.Damn you feebay, damn you.

I have only sold 3 of my Echos and i got 2 of them back. I am on a list for the 3rd one but i know his kids will get it first. It took over 25 years to find one of them....Bob

Not getting cold feet are you? ;)

NAh, she is all boxed up ready to go out ups. I was in a plant all day today and couldn't make it before they closed.. threw some other goodies in there too... When i find the owners manual, I'll mail it to you. Take care of her, she was the first brand new saw i ever bought....

I have sold a number of saws and haven't regretted parting with any of them. I kept the ones I wanted and should sell some of those. I have about 3 or 4 that need to go but none of them are on the market for one reason or another. I like to thoroughly test out saws before I sell them and just haven't done much cutting recently. I have regretted selling some guns in the past and just stopped that.

Saws come and go. There's always more out there...

No regrets wife is happy when I sell one. I however know another is soon to replace it.:help:

There is some things that I have regretted selling and some things that I am happy that I sold, but when it comes down to being able to put food on the table or pay bills, it has to be done. Family always comes before a machine.

I miss many of the saws I sold off, and some I actually regret selling (my 066 and 075/076 pair in particular). But for some years I just wasn't using them. Now I am cutting a lot again and had to rebuy a few, but such is life. I'm back to a decent crop, and am in the market for a 394/5 or 066...again.

So my sense is that you may be at that point where the hobby evolves and you hang on to the tools you need and let the toys find a new home. It's part of life. Don't fret too much, just make sure the saws go to good homes.

took me a week to talk myself into selling my 394, shortly after selling it, i wanted it back. So mastermind hooked me up with a project one and the rest is history...

View attachment 260007View attachment 260008I miss almost all of them. I keep selling a MS 460 and then have to buy another. The one I miss the most is the 088 that I refurbished. Dang it that thing went to Cali and I'll never get it back:cry:

Yeah I hear that... i rebuilt this one from 4 different saws, then just decided to replace EVERYTHING with Stihl parts. I haven't added up all the receipts, but the only thing I reused was the case, tank and jug... I wanted to use it on my Chainsaw mill 5-6 years ago... Brad Snelling bought all the remains that I had, along withmy 066 redlight. that was before he even knew what a ported saw was... lol.

Its kinda bittersweet i guess.. life goes through stages... I'm thinking about doing the same thing with my car collection too... i don't have too, but i don't need 4 or 5 toys.. I can barely keep the one I have cleaned... one has been an on going 8 year project... Have every single part to finish it, just didn't have a place for a long time.. now that I have the place I just want it gone, but a personal goal is to get it together. Much like saws, Cars don't have much investment.. worth more parting out than they are together. (1986 GT Vert 37K mile Geogia, full cage, 342 Stroker, big blower, full suspension, full on best of the best... I prolly have 20K in it and would be lucky to get 10K out of the complete running car... Then there is the first mustang (my 66 coupe) that started my future of wrenching... It eventually led to my father and I's restoration business "Mid-Ohio Mustang".. I will never sell that as that is kinda what made me who i am and where I am in life is due to alot of that drive and motivation.

anyhooters the 084... lost all the original pics... haven't ran it, not even once... rebuilt the carb and was walking over to install it and put the finishing touches on it, when I dropped it and broke the plastic fuel inlet fitting 4-5 years ago and she has sat in a box since then... I even had an extra Jug and piston for it so i could port it if I ever wanted to get into racing it....

Well, My Cad kicked in again... Since I sold off so many, i decided i wanted to try and find an XPW old style 372 ( the 75cc one)... Well after finding a couple in stupid price ranges i looked into buyin an new 372 X-Torque from my dealer... I know I could have gotten a new 365 XT and torn it apart and made it into a 372, but I like the HD filter and taller profile... long story short I bought an almost new 372 X torque on Ebay that had some issues... I expect p/c failure when I bought it...figured I make my own XPW.

Got it, tore it apart and found the starter side cank bearing wasted... and alot of water in the crankcase... not sure what happened as it press and vac tested fine and the p/c was perfect like new, and the PTO side bearing was good which was wierd as that is the side that always goes first. so I tore her down and put bearings and seals in it and ported it while I was at it.. I was leary based on what i had read about the X-Torques not taking that well to mods... well It definately runs better than a stock 372xp and this one runs better than my windowed piston old 372... It pulls a 8T 24" amazing well (better than I thought it would) pic is only of a 20" oregon. This will be a nice work saw and will fit the bill nicely since I sold my 7900 that I swore I never would... I have 355 bucks in this one total with the repairs...I already had the bearings and case gasket, all i had to buy was seals. It is a 2012 model.
