It has been said by others, and myself, that the compression release on the 346XP is not needed; I may have changed my mind. On a couple of occasions I have had a bit of trouble getting the saw to restart after it has been run for awhile, turned off, and allowed to cool a bit; today was one of those times.
I had pulled it three or four times and got nothing, and although it's not hard to pull the starter rope I was already tired and that was getting old. :censored: Then I remember the compression release, I pushed it in, gave it a yank, and it cranked right up. After that I did it every time I started it and it would start first pull. My thought is that it allows the engine to spin over several times and maybe it needs to do that.
Did I discover why they put it on the saw?
