Pulled the muffler drilled out the baffle holes a bit and bent the ports out, so she should breath a little better..

Then I started thinking, this thing has been sitting for probably close to 10 years in my uncle's garage never had gas in it..I should probably check the primer and fuel line..good thing I did..every piece of line crumbled apart..

Thanks.

If you have a Dremel, you can take more material out under those tiny exhaust outlets. That's what I did to mine.

I agree with Ammoaddict, you can open more. Also, I would take your baffle and drill 3 evenly spaced bigger holes using at least a 5/16" to 3/8" drill bit.

As recommended I drilled out the baffles a little more..

Here's the kit I got from Amazon..$12 bucks shipped..
2 filters, 2 primer bulbs, spark plug and a couple of lenghts of fuel line..

Installing the lines was a b**ch, particularly the feed line, but I finally got it..primed her, then a couple of pulls with the choke and it fired right up..saw sounds good, no leaks, other than bar oil. Seems like it's a decent saw for light chores, but I still like my little MS170 better..

This is factory poulan 4000 muffler. They took the 3400 muffler and added the side port on it. Super easy with a dremel. Altered my 3400 to match. Not sure if yours would be that simple, but it doesn’t look too far off
