Yes, a Tillotson model HL , very easy to find rebuild kits for them.

Those are common? Are they difficult to rebuild? I'm doing this by myself when my husband isn't home to surprise him... I am mechanically inclined, but have not done any small engine work.
About the easiest carb to rebuild that was ever made, been inside literally hundreds of them, a lot of the older saws from the 50`s and 60`s used the Tillotson HL carbs.

There was an excellent post by a member a few years back that had pictures. Gary had the whole thing step by step. Photo bucket has since taken away pictures but if you search the Web for hl rebuild maybe it is available elsewhere. He posted the same several places. Also check u tube. Take care removing the fuel line at the bottom. The connection is plastic. They are available but don't come in the kit.

Garys thread was very good, but the only issue i had with it was what was said about not pulling the welch plugs. I have pulled many to find crap up under them, and make it a habit now.
