Oooops, posted about the wrong saw, but it was one that comes with a too small Zama carb.....
Hooray 5100!!!
I thought the XP 372 HD 12 was a direct bolt-on?
The HD-12 is a direct swap......but is undersized IMHO as well. The XT carb is the best I've used on the saw, but an air filter is a bugger.
What keeps you from boring out the HD-12?
Not, and I suspect that one has a too small Zama carb as well (no info availiable though), as it doesn't accellerate as a good 50cc saw should.
There is a connection there, but of course there are other variables as well.....
I'm not a chinese product fan right now... Even if the design was ok, the QC sucks... And what's really frustrating, is I don't know enough about carbs to dig into one and tell someone if it's right or wrong, and why...Matt, I think you nailed down my feelings as well. Some Zama carbs are fine.....others are just crap.
...They put these things on thecheapall current Stihl's too, and that's usually what I have to deal with from the neighbors...
You just made Troll's day.Fixed.
I've heard...Fixed.
Key word being...I've yet to see a 261 with a carb problem......and they wear a Zama.

The fuel passage.....
.... but Zama hasn't figured out how to build the same carb twice it seems...
