5100 when done right are an inch less than the best 346NE's and the 562?

Thats one thing nice about being a independent chainsaw repair or porter IMO. You can pick and choose who's saws or what types you dont work on.
There is just some stuff out there I turn away and dont want to repair. I can understand ones point.

I don't do 075/6s, 575XPs......there are a few.......

I'm scheduling work into March.......I don't see any reason to work on stuff that has a good chance at slowing down the process.

I will not port any type of clamshell, will not port any type of antique saw, will not port any saw that in my opinion is beyond its service limits. theres lots of saws I wont touch.

I have built some 5100s that are really strong running little saws. That just have a ****** design on the carb, intake, and air filter. There's lot of room for improvement in the jug.......but what's the point if the intake tract sucks balls?

It can work quite well, if you know exactly what to do (and what not to), and know the limitations - but I can well understand that it is not economical to do it in a commercial setting.

You just grind on them, guess if'n you don't make money on them they suck bawls?

I have one NO ONE has touched, it runs just fine, and has for over 8 years.

Actually if I buy a saw that has been ported, I find in quite discouraging?
